The Tie That Binds -

There is one common thread that is
uniting the one million plus people who
protested on April 15th at over 850 Tea
Parties across this great country.
That
common thread is that we all want fiscal
responsibility with our tax dollars.
We may be Republican, Libertarian,
Democrat, or Independent. We may be
pro-life or not. We may care passionately
about the environment or we may only
mildly care about the environment. We may
want to legalize gay marriage or we may
be adamantly opposed to it. We may be
Christian or Jewish or of another faith.
We may be old or we may be young. We
cross a broad spectrum when looking at so
many of the other issues that define us.
When a person can no longer afford to
provide for himself and his family
without working 60+ hours a week because
the government takes so much money out of
his check, there is a problem. When a
family must have two people working to
pay afford basic necessities because the
government is taking half their income in
taxes, there is a problem. The ability to
provide for yourself and your family is
the most basic social issue. If we do not
solve this social problem, the other
social problems will not be important. If
we cannot afford to take care of
ourselves, how can we afford to take care
of others?
We all agree the majority of our elected
officials in Washington DC have become
irresponsible with our tax dollars. These
elected officials cannot seem to help
taxing us and spending our money the way
they see fit. They are putting our nation
in debt at a rate of $1 million per
minute. In the next 10 years, we will
acquire a deficit of roughly $9.7
trillion (trillion with a T). They are
passing bills in record time without even
reading what is in the bills. There are
special projects that benefit small
individuals and groups around the country
to the detriment of those who actually
are working hard to pay the taxes.
It is time for this wasteful spending to
stop. It is time for the out of control
taxing to stop. It is time to let those
who are working hard to earn the money,
keep the money they earn. It is time to
stop rewarding failure and start
rewarding entrepreneurship.
We are all Americans and we are all tax
payers. We all demand fiscal
responsibility with our tax dollars.
That's right our tax dollars, not
Washington's dollars. This is the tie
that binds us together.
Message
from the National Team
The Tea Party Patriots are a
completely non-partisan, spontaneous
movement made up of hundreds of
thousands of patriots from all around
the nation. We the people are
the Tea Party Patriots!
On April 15th, 2009, you,
the Tea Party Patriots of America
assembled in over 850 cities, totaling
over 1.2 million Patriots, and
creating the single
largest, multi-city protest in American
history.
This movement has no single
leader. This movement has millions of
leaders. You are leaders of this
movement. This is a true grassroots
movement, and the direction, message and
methodology of this movement are driven
from the ground up. This is the way We
will change America.
April 15th was just the beginning. Now
we all know that we are not alone. We
are no longer silent. We will no longer
sit idly by and watch politicians of
both parties mortgage our children's
future and destroy this great nation. We
are the majority, we are organized, we
are activated, we are networked, and we
are empowered with the latest tools and
technology. From Hawaii to Washington
DC, we are in the big cities and we are
in the small towns. We are your
neighbors, your friends and your fellow
employees. We drive the buses, we swing
the hammers, we teach the children, we
bag your groceries. We are the people.
For too long, politicians have used
party affiliation and social issues to
divide us. They have used these
divisions to hide what they are doing at
the local, state an national level.
Every day they take more and more of our
money, and yet it is never enough to
satisfy their appetites for spending.
The economy is shrinking, and yet
government is growing at an
unprecedented rate.
Now that we have partied together, it is
time for action. We have a direction
action plan to change this great country
so that it once again reflects the
common sense of the great majority of
American people.
If you are fed up with a Congress & President who...
- ...are spending trillions of borrowed dollars, leaving a debt our great-grandchildren will be paying?
-
...consistently give special interest groups billions of dollars in earmarks to help get themselves re-elected?
- ...want to take your wealth and redistribute it to others?
...punish those who practice responsible financial behavior and reward those who do not?
...admit to using the financial hurt of millions as an opportunity to push their political agenda?
...run up trillions of dollars of debt and then sell that debt to countries such as China?
...want government controlled health care?
...want to take away the right to vote with a secret ballot in union elections?
...refuse to stop the flow of millions of illegal immigrants into our country?
...appoint a defender of child pornography to the Number 2 position in the Justice Department?
...want to force doctors and other medical workers to perform abortions against their will?
- ...want to impose a carbon tax on your electricity, gas and home heating fuels?
...want to reduce your tax deductibility for charitable gifts?
...take money from your family budget to pay for their federal budget?
then you are a friend of the Tea Party Movement

Fifty-one percent (51%) of Americans have a favorable view of the “tea parties” held nationwide last week, including 32% who say their view of the events is Very favorable. Thirty-three percent (33%) hold an unfavorable opinion of the tea parties according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Fifteen percent (15%) are not sure. While half the nation has a favorable opinion of last Wednesday’s events, the nation’s Political Class has a much dimmer view—just 13% of the political elite offered even a somewhat favorable assessment while 81% said the opposite. Among the Political Class, not a single survey respondent said they had a Very Favorable opinion of the events while 60% shared a Very Unfavorable assessment. One-in-four adults (25%) say they personally know someone who attended a tea party protest. That figure includes just one percent (1%) of those in the Political Class. David Axelrod, a top
adviser to President Obama,
on Sunday characterized the
protests in dozens of cities
on the day federal income taxes Fifty-eight percent (58%) of Americans say they followed recent new stories about the tea party protests, including 32% who followed Very Closely. Forty-one percent (41%) say they didn’t follow the reports. Republicans were far more interested in the protests than others. Seventy-six percent (76%) of Republicans followed news reports, with 50% following Very Closely. By comparison, just 47% of Democrats and 50% of adults not affiliated with either major party say they followed the reports at least somewhat closely. Just 32% of the Political Class was following along. Among those with populist, or Mainstream, views, 68% were paying attention. While 83% of Republicans and a plurality (49%) of unaffiliated Americans have a favorable view of the tea party protests, only 28% of Democrats say the same. The Political Class and Mainstream classifications are determined by the answers to three questions measuring general attitudes about government. Most Americans trust the
judgment of the public more
than political leaders, view
the federal government as a
special interest group and
believe that big business
and big government work
together against the
interests of investors and
consumers. Only
seven percent (7%) share the
opposite view and can be
considered part of the
Political Class. Forty-five percent (45%) of Americans adults now While Americans are slightly more optimistic about the economy’s improvement in the short term, they are growing more concerned that the government may do too much to try to help things along. think most people get involved in politics to protect themselves from what the government might do. |
